Custom PCs

Why build a computer? Why not just buy a Dell, Compaq, HP, or Gateway? Sometimes, manufacturers include proprietary parts with the computer to conform to the way they want it to cost.

Definition of proprietary: In the language of hackers and users, inferior; implies a product not conforming to open-systems standards, and thus one that puts the customer at the mercy of a vendor who can inflate service and upgrade charges after the initial sale has locked the customer in. Since it's cheaper, they can add whatever other costs they want to mark it up a little. That's why they're low-cost computers...you have to think that they probably cut costs somewhere. In addition, they might create their own parts that are compatible only with their own brand, instead of being compatible with others. Good for them, not for you.

What about support? Warranty? Well, the individual parts themselves have warranties on their own. If anything goes wrong, We can always find the problem part and get it replaced (assuming it's within the warranty period). You don't necessarily need a 3-5 year warranty, because by then, the parts are most likely obsolete and can be upgraded. But, the warranty of the parts range from 1-3 years from the manufacturer. If you ever need help, We are, or the numerous amounts of people are, out there to help with simple questions. Forums (like ours!) are places where you can create a member account (almost always free) and ask whatever questions you have in mind.
